Ending of JOU 2100

I feel as though I learned a lot in this class  about writing. I have a stronger grasp on AP Style  than I did in JOU 2100. The finally was a challenge but I feel I accomplished all the studying that I need to at least receive  a passing grade . But Im still have the uncertainty of whether I passed this class or not .  But thinking positively I  accomplished what I wanted and became a stronger writer than I have ever been. So going on into my next class I will take all the things Ive learned about leads and new releases and apply it to  any story that I write after this class.

Now that I finished my first 1:30 package I realized that I have a lot of  things that I need to work on to have a successful package. My critique I feel was a little harsh but I needed . I also learned that a PR major  I will eventually  have to learn how to do video  for my career .  I also learned  the  differences between broadcast and print writing plus the reasons why some news releases are not  published.

Guest Speaker

Today in JOU 2100 I arrived once again fashionably late . Today we had a guest speaker, Natalie Pierre  multimedia  sports reporter for the Tallahassee Democrat. The lecture that she gave in class was very informational  but long . One thing that I  took away from the lecture was when she stated  to put our most important  information in the lead for atleast 20 seconds  and finish  the rest of the story in a fast  proficient way.  Pierre discussed  tips on shooting a package. One  of the tips was when interviewing people  if it does not feel like a conversation then do not write it in your script . Also she stated that what helps her when producing packages is to  begin with a  burst of sound something that will possibly draw the viewers attention.  Hopefully I can take these tips I learned and use to my advantage in my  package .
